If cookie cutter hotels aren’t your thing, try The Richmond for size. The plush city centre hotel, part of the Best Western Premier Collection, promises guests an exclusive experience they’ll remember fondly. Housed in the former Transport Department of Liverpool Corporation building, The Richmond’s traditional redbrick exterior belies a bold, contemporary interior. The Grade II listed building, dating from 1906, comprises 152 bedrooms plus 52 apartments. Guest rooms are extravagantly furnished, with eye-catching decor to match. Apartments, meanwhile, comprise two Classic Rooms accompanied by a suite that incorporates a kitchenette, dining area, lounge and separate bedroom. The hotel’s rooms have been designed around themes of work, rest and play, with styles, colours and vibes to match these moods. Guests can enjoy free Wifi throughout, luxury toiletries, king-sized beds, 50” flatscreen TVs, laptop safe and a minibar with complimentary milk and water. During your stay in the hotel, you can also enjoy access to Esk Spa and a fully-equipped gym just across the road. For those who’d prefer a little more space and privacy, apartments are available with two, three or four bedrooms. When you’re ready to eat, decamp to R Bar & Brasserie where sophisticated British cuisine is rustled up using fresh, seasonal produce, sourced locally where possible. Alternatively, treat yourself to an indulgent champagne afternoon tea at the bar. The bar is also the place to sample R’s signature cocktails, made with panache and a whole lotta booze. When evening falls and hunger calls, a light bites menu is packed with appetising salads and sandwiches, while the a la carte menu boasts such mouth-watering options as Confit of Wirral Pork and Welsh Dry Aged Ribeye Steak. Full of opulent flourishes and brimming with character, The Richmond is no ordinary hotel.

It was a nice room - quite large however our view wasn't great and it sounded like we were very close to water mains system as we had a constant noise during the stay. Facilities were great. Shower was amaze - the spa and the gym across the road was great. breakfast wasn't great, but was sufficient. Would stay again
